what's #1515vcs all about?

#1515vcs is a way for people working in the voluntary and community sector to share the amazing work we do.

what #1515vcs means

At around 3.15pm on working days, people in the voluntary and community sector who use twitter send a tweet which includes the #1515vcs hashtag. The tweet simply shares what the person is (or was) doing at 3.15pm (no matter how mundane). It offers a snapshot of work in our sector.

A few early adopters are also cake lovers, so you'll also see references to #1515cake occasionally!

how to join #1515vcs

Simply send a tweet around or soon after 3.15pm saying what you're up to and include #1515vcs in the tweet. @dosticen relies on calendar reminders, use whatever works for you. If you follow the hashtag or check out the Storified collections on this site you might find some great new contacts to connect with on twitter and beyond.

how #1515vcs started

In November 2011, @eseesea (Stephanie Cole), @watfordgap (Paul Webster), @NCVSJo (Jo Dean), @lizzie_banks (Lizzie Banks) and @dosticen (Lorna Prescott) started using #1515vcs to talk about our work. And it grew from there with more and more voluntary and community sector people using #1515vcs every day.

It was stolen from @loulouk (Louise Kidney) who had the wonderful idea of #1515gov, which is basically the same but for people working in local government. If you want to learn a bit more about the inspiration for #1515vcs, read Louise's blog.
